Natural drying of hot pepper generally takes 15- 20 days, but the mechanical drying only takes 40- 48 hours, greatly reducing the hot pepper drying time, so the hot pepper can appear on the market earlier and can be sold at a good price.”
Through manual calculation, the cost of hot pepper harvested manually and dried naturally is RMB 970 per mu, whereas the cost of hot pepper harvested and dried mechanically is RMB 551 per mu, increasing income of RMB 419 per mu. The popularization and application of hot pepper drying technology not only increases the farmers’ income, solve the employment problem, but also alleviate farmers’ labor intensity. Implementation of mechanical harvesting of all hot peppers is one of technical supports for sustainable development of red hot pepper industry in Hejing County in the future.
